Be open and ask questions. I am here to actively listen to your concerns

Write down reasons you’re seeking help. This will help you and I work effectively to reach your counseling goals.

Be open and honest about your feelings. During your first session, many thoughts will come to mind. You’ll probably think your therapist is not able to keep up however, I provide a warm and accepting atmosphere for you to explore your concerns.

Be realistic with your therapy expectations. Deciding to talk to someone is a great first step in improving your mental health. However, counseling is not a quick fix for your problem but a process. With time and effort, you can develop a strong relationship with me as your therapist which can help you with gaining the tools toward problem solving.
What is therapy?
Therapy, also called psychotherapy or counseling, is the process of meeting with a therapist to resolve problematic behaviors, beliefs, feelings, relationship issues, and/or somatic responses (sensations in the body).
Dr. Michael Herkov describes therapy as a “process whereby psychological problems are treated through communication and relationship factors between an individual and a trained mental health professional. Modern psychotherapy is time-limited, focused, and usually occurs once a week for 45-50 minutes per session.”

Where are you located and what are your hours?
My office is located on 8221 Summa Ave. Suite F. Baton Rouge, LA 70809, conveniently accessible from Essen Lane. My office hours are in the afternoon beginning at 3:30 through 6:30 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. I offer weekend appointments upon request. Call for your free 15 minute consultation.
